Mozart & Britten

Sunday 4th July 2pm | St Monans Church

Tickets: £13.50 Approx 1 hr

Belcea String Quartet

Elias String Quartet

Elias String Quartet

Mozart: Quartet in A, K.464, 'The Drum'
Britten: Quartet No.3, Op.94

Mozart's 'Drum' Quartet got its name because of a rhythmic effect he deploys on the cello - and that's just the most famous of its charms. It makes for a nice contrast with Britten's poignant and lovely last quartet. Written in his last year (he did not live to hear it performed in public), it pays tribute to a city that he loved more, perhaps, than any other: Venice, La Serenissima.
